39 families lose homes in fire at Brgy. 29

Thirty-nine families lost their homes in fire that erupted in Purok Paghidaet, Barangay 29, Bacolod City, a day after Christmas, December 26.

According to Burea of Fire Protection, a total of 15 houses were damaged, affecting 117 individuals.

Of the 15, 13 houses were completely burnt, while 2 were partially damage, according to data from the City Disaster Risk Reduction.

The displaced families, now temporarily sheltered at Mabini Elementary School, have received assistance from the city through the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and Social Services and Development (DSSD).

The fire, which started at Marites Logronio’s residence, spread rapidly to neighboring homes, with an estimated property loss of 1.8 million pesos, as confirmed by SFO4 Jereck Barbas, Deputy City Fire Marshal of Bacolod City Central Fire Station.

The fire escalated to a 3rd alarm status, mobilizing 12 fire trucks before it was contained.

Authorities, led by arson investigators, are currently conducting a thorough examination to determine the cause of the fire.
