A woman from Cadiz City has alleged that she is a victim of identify theft and a fraudulent marriage.

In a Facebook post, Evelyn Ruelan who is currently in a relationship with a different guy, said that she was shocked to discover that she had been unknowingly married to an Indian national when she received a copy of her Certificate of No Marriage (CeNoMar). She claimed that she never gave consent to the marriage and was unaware of it until recently.

Ruelan questioned how such a fraudulent act could have occurred in Caloocan and Valenzuela City, Metro Manila.

She emphasized that her identity, including her parents’ names, was used without her permission, and only her signature was missing.

A copy of the marriage contract that Ruelan obtained from the Philippine Statistic Authority showed that she was married to Jagdev Singh in November 16, 2023. On the marriage contract, the present address of Ruelan was registered at San Andres Extension, Metro Manila.
