Around 185,000 member-consumers of Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NONECO) will enjoy a significant decrease in their electricity bills.

This after NONECO announced a reduction on the power rate for June from P17.26 per kWh to P9.20, a decrease of P8.06.

This reduction applies to consumers in EB Magalona, Manapla, Cadiz City, Sagay City, Escalante City, Toboso, Calatrava, and San Carlos City.

The move of NONECO follows similar announcements from other power distributors in Western Visayas with Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) reducing the cost per kilowat by P3 in May, while Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) lowered its June billing rate by P2.40 per kWh.

MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) in Iloilo City also implemented a reduced rate of P8.77 per kWh for June.

These reductions come after protests from consumers against recent rate increases, prompting calls for government intervention to address power supply issues in the region.
