The City of Victorias, under the leadership of Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez and the City Officials, has once again been honored for its exceptional commitment to safety, preparedness, and humanitarian assistance.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), through the National Gawad KALASAG Selection Committee, has officially declared Victorias City Fully Compliant with the Gawad KALASAG Seal and awarded the city with the prestigious Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance for CY 2024 under the Local DRRM Councils and Offices (LDRRMCOs) Category.
The formal conferment of the award will take place during the Gawad KALASAG National and Regional Awarding Ceremony on December 11, 2024, in Iloilo City. This event will celebrate outstanding contributions to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), and humanitarian assistance.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to the tireless efforts of the Victorias City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO), led by VCDRRMO Rodolfo Retirado and his dedicated team. Their innovative strategies and unwavering commitment have set a high standard for disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation, the city of Victorias said in a press statement.
