The city government of San Carlos thru its People’s Park Management Office (PPMO) is already preparing 36 young trees to be planted within the People’s park for the creation of the Philippine Heritage Trees Site.

Dr. Archilles Ponferrada, PPMO head said yesterday, April 8 that 12 types of tree seedlings namely Malabuho, Dao, Bogo, Almaciga, Bangkal, Kalumpit, Molave, Tindalo, Ulayan/Tu-ay, Bakan, Anonang, and Bani were given by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources thru the City Environment Management Office for the purpose.

He added that said advocacy dubbed as “Philippine Heritage Trees Site” aimed at educating the youth about the importance of trees, encouraging them to plant more of it, conserving and producing more trees as part of helping the environment in coping up against the threat of global warming.

Ponferrada also said that a ceremonial tree planting will be held soon after they have prepared the area where the young trees will be planted.

In the meantime, said young plants will be transferred into bigger bags to make it more stable and gain more roots before planting them permanently on the ground.
