San Carlos caps IWD by recognizing women advocate

The San Carlos City Children and Women’s Affairs, Inc. (SCCAWAI) recognized women advocates during the culmination of National Women’s Month celebration on March 31 at the Consuelo Alger Community Center.

Recipients who received certificates of recognition include: Department of the Interior and Local Government’s Local Government Operations Officer VII and North Cluster Head Maria Fatima Daiz, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Cynthia Mirande, AVON San Carlos City Branch Owner Angelina Cosas and Guadalupe Workers and Parents Association (GWAPA) president Lorena Pasilan.

The four women advocates shared their respective inspiring stories which centered on their struggles and triumphs in order to attain recent status, resiliency, liberation from poverty thru education, celebration of womanhood and women empowerment.

Ma. Consuelo Janice Carmona and Grima Rabacal, SCCAWAI president and vice president, said women advocates deserved the recognition since they contributed to women empowerment and gender equality thru their works.

Also present during the culmination activity were former SP member Victoriana Cabili, members of Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Barangay Desk Officers Federation headed by Social Welfare Officer IILavern T. Rigor, SCCAWAI officers, board of directors and members and representatives from the 18 barangays.

The theme for this year’s National Women’s Month celebration is, “We Make Change Work for Women.”
