Two cities and a town in Northern Negros Occidental on Monday evening, October 21, experience blackout due to a detached suspension insulator on the Bacolod-Silay 69KV transmission line.

The power outage began at approximately 6:11 PM and lasted until past 11 PM affected the cities of Talisay & Silay, and portions of EB Magalona.

The affected insulator was located in a remote area of Talisay City, making repairs challenging. However, dedicated crews from Negros Electric and Power Corp. (NEPC) worked diligently to restore power to the affected areas.

EB Magalona, which had been experiencing power issues due to a transformer breakdown at the Victorias substation, was temporarily connected to NEPC’s grid. While the 10 MVA transformer at the Victorias Substation has been activated to restore power to the rest of EB Magalona, Victorias, and Manapla, EB Magalona proper remains connected to NEPC.
