“Pink fiesta” in Bacolod today; Albee throws support for Marcos

A “pink fiesta” is slated from 8AM-12NN today, February 8, at the Negros 4 Leni headquarters in Hernaez-Gatuslao, Bacolod City to officially start the campaign of presidential candidate Leni Robredo.

Supporters of Robredo who called themselves “pink warriors” are expected to join the kick off event in Bacolod which will be spearheaded by the Robredo People’s Council along with all Kakampink groups in the province.

February 8 is the official start of the campaign season for national candidates and the vice president is scheduled to start her campaign for the presidency in Camarines Sur. Robredo will be joined by Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and their senatorial aspirants.

At noon, supporters will join the nationwide noise barrage to signify their support for Robredo.

Meanwhile, Bacolod mayoral candidate Albee Benitez has joined PDP Laban members from around the country in supporting presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a video released by Marcos’ on Facebook with a title “BBM VLOG 197: Handang Handa Na!” Benitez, the billionaire opponent of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, was shown handing a manifesto of support to Marcos. The manifesto was signed by him and 22 other PDP Laban members from around the country.

Benitez is the PDP Laban Cusi wing head for Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.

In a statement posted on his official FB page late afternoon yesterday, the former congressman said: “My personal choice is mine alone. I have never and will never impose upon my local partymates and on others as well. At the start, we have always agreed that we will not support one common national candidate. Each is free to support his/her national candidate because we RESPECT each other’s choices.”

Some of his partymates are openly campaigning for Robredo and Manny Pacquiao.
