Amidst the global pandemic that caused economic meltdown here and abroad, the Department of Labor and Employment re-emphasize that the release of 13th month should still proceed as mandated under the labor code.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III made it clear that employeers are required to release their workers’ 13th month not later than December 24.

He added that the labor bureau is set to issue an official order reiterating the mandatory release of the 13th month. Earlier, a group of employers rallied for the suspension of the releasing of the bonus following the decline in local economy due to the pandemic.
