An additional 27 rice retailers in Bacolod City is set to receive a financial assistance of P15,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
In a press conference on Tuesday, September 19, Bacolod City Administrator Atty. Pacifico Maghari III said that the second batch of financial assistance will be released on Thursday, September 21.
The assistance is part of the government’s efforts to help rice retailers affected by the imposition of a rice price ceiling. In the first batch, only one rice retailer in Bacolod received the assistance.
Based on the records of the Bacolod Permits and Licensing Office, there are 157 rice retailers in the entire city.
Maghari said that in Libertad Market, there is already a rice retailer selling regular milled rice at 41 pesos per kilo.
