Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), the local franchise holder of McDonald’s, is expanding its presence in Negros Occidental with the opening of a new store in Bago City.

The fast-food giant held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday, August 20, to mark the start of construction for McDonald’s Bago along Rafael M. Salas Drive. The new outlet is scheduled to open in December of this year.

GADC Public Affairs Manager Austin Torres led the ceremony, together with Bago City officials, led by Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres.

Once operational, McDonald’s Bago is expected to create 80 to 100 new jobs for local residents, in addition to employment opportunities during the construction phase.

According to Torres, the Bago City store will be the first McDonald’s in Negros Occidental to incorporate sustainable features such as solar roof decks, lamp posts, and eco-panels, reflecting the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Mayor Yulo expressed confidence that McDonald’s Bago would contribute significantly to the local economy through job creation and economic activity. He emphasized the city’s welcoming stance toward investors who adhere to local regulations.

“McDonald’s has always been a symbol of growth in any community,” Mayor Yulo said. “We fully support your business here in Bago City.”

Vice Mayor Torres shared the mayor’s optimism, highlighting the benefits the new store would bring to both Bago City residents and neighboring communities. He assured the public of the city government’s dedication to progress.
