Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Executive Assistant George Zulueta met with the members of the South Sum-ag Punta Taytay Transport Service Cooperative Organization and discussed on the the group’s preparation for the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUMV) at Tomaro road in Barangay Sum-ag, February 25.

Also known as Department Order No. 2017-011 of the Department of Transportation, the PUVMP is a flagship program of the Duterte administration which focuses on a “restructured, modern, well-managed and environmentally sustainable transport sector where drivers and operators have stable, sufficient and dignified livelihoods while commuters get to their destinations quickly, safely and comfortably.”

“We have started the development and progress in the north of Bacolod, now it’s time to go to the southern side,” Leonardia said.

The mayor added that the construction of the Bacolod City Coliseum will gather local and foreign tourists, which will in turn boost business along the area, the mayor added.

The South Sum-ag Punta Taytay Transport Service Cooperative Organization has 67 members who were affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Leonardia also assured them that the city will extend financial assistance to the affected members through the office of Zulueta.
