Former CHMSC pres passed away

Former university president of the state-run Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, Dr. Renato M. Sorolla, has passed away, a report from Talisay Online confirms. He died at the age of 61.

In its FB page CHMSC extends its sympathy and solidarity to Sorolla’s family and relatives.

Known as “Sir Natz” to the CHMSCians, Sorolla was the 5th president of the state university serving from 2012-2020.

He served for 2 consecutive terms as college president with the renewal of his second term as college president by the Board of Trustees last July 14, 2016 at the Commission on Higher Education Central Office, Diliman, Quezon City.

During his term, he pushed for the establishment of an industry and international linkage center, full implementation of blended learning approach to teaching and learning, and development and implementation of institutional competency assessment and certification.

Dr. Sorolla was also instrumental in the upgrade of equipment and laboratory facilities, development of experts through capacity building of faculty and staff, and establishment of a center for entrepreneurial programs.
