Lakat Sustainable Sneakers achieved a double win at the recent Good Design Award Philippines 2024, securing two awards in the Object Making Category.

Lakat received the coveted Red Award, recognizing products that exemplify exceptional design. But their biggest win came with being the sole recipient of the Green Award. This prestigious distinction is reserved for projects demonstrating the highest level of sustainable design practices and significantly contributing to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations.

A representative from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) served on the judging panel, making the recognition even more meaningful, Lakat said in a statement.

“We are thrilled and incredibly humbled by these awards,” said Michael Claparols, co-founder of Lakat Sustainable Sneakers, alongside his brother Banj Claparols. “This is a true testament to our unwavering commitment to creating sustainable and innovative footwear.”

Lakat extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Design Center of the Philippines for recognizing their efforts and to everyone who has supported their journey from the beginning.
