A 38-year-old who works in a cruise ship and recently returned in Bacolod City is currently in isolation while waiting for his repeat RT-PCR test after testing positive of COVID-19 Omicron variant.

But the Department of Health in Western Visayas clarified that the returning oversease filipino with indicated address in Bacolod City and is part of the confirmed cases of Omicron, is no longer an active case as he has been tagged as recovered.

Based on the information relayed to the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center, the crew was positive of the Omicron variant based on the genome sequencing released last January 1.

The ROF arrived in Manila from Miami Florida, USA last December 15 and underwent a swab testing while on quarantine where his result turned out positive last December 20. The patient then extended his isolation in Manila and only traveled to Bacolod last December 31.

Based on the figures released by the DOH in today’s media forum, the country has a total of 11 cases of Omicron, and contact tracing has been completed.
