The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) has strengthen its campaign against illegal power connections, whether residential or commercial in its area of coverage in Bacolod.

A team from CENECO along with members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), recently inspected establishments operating in Bacolod City with its aim to stop illegal tapping as prohibited under Republic Act 7832 or Anti-electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994 (RA 7832). Also considered illegal are jumper installation and meter tampering.

According to CENECO, illegal connection is one of the main reason for CENECO’s high system loss that is billed back to all consumers every month.
