The Central Negros Electric Cooperative in partnership with Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives (APEC) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), conducted the fifth phase of the Pantawid Liwanag Program (PLP) on September 27 at the CENECO main office.

The PLP was initiated during the height of the CoViD-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 to provide cash assistance for the marginalized member-consumer-owners (MCOs).

A total of 250 beneficiaries from the whole coverage area of CENECO, comprising the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and municipalities of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto, received cash assistance distributed by the DSWD. CENECO, on its part, provided transportation allowance and snacks for the MCOs.

The Board and Management hope that this aid to the CENECO MCOs has somehow alleviate their plight.

The PLP is the rural electrification’s sector contribution to the “Bayanihan to Heal as One” Act.
