After making a promise last week to reduce residential power rate by P1/kilowatt hour, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative announces today, January 18, an increase of P0.6246/kWh.

In a press statement, the electric cooperative said the increase will bring the average residential rate for the January billing to P10.4696/kWh.

The increase according to CENECO was attributed to the increase in charges on generation, transmission, system loss, and pass through fees such as lifeline & Senior, plus taxes.

CENECO further clarified that this add-on does not proceed on the electric coop’s coffer. It said that since 2010, the coop only charges P1.1866/kWh for the distribution, supply and metering.
