After the issuance of travel restriction for returning residents coming from the National Capital Region and its neighboring cities, Gov. Eugenio Lacson wanted the same restriction for travelers coming from Cebu.

The governor reiterated his earlier request to IAFT to halt land, sea and air travel from Cebu due to a significant increase of COVID-19 cases in the area. As of today, only land trips between the province and the island of Cebu are suspended as no decision has been made yet on the earlier request made by Vallacar Transit Inc requesting to allow Ceres Liner to operate trips between Negros and Cebu, and other key areas outside of the province.

Lacson stressed that with the spike of cases in areas outside the region it is important that restrictions area in place to avoid a drastic increase in COVID-positive individuals within the province.

Aside from enforcing minimum health protocol, Capitol also reminded the public to consider staying at home on Holy Week to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of yesterday, the province reported a total of 263 cases, with 16 new cases reported by the Department of Health yesterday afternoon.
