The provincial government of Negros Occidental is exploring a possible direct flight to the Northern Territory of Australia and Negros Occidental, following their recent visit in Darwin, Australia, led by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, who joined Lacson and several Capitol executives for an official travel to Darwin, Australia, said a draft of the proposal is now ready for submission to the ministers of Darwin. The same will also be forwarded to the provincial board of Negros Occidental for approval.

According to Diaz there is a high demand for employees in the Northern Territory but a lot of establishments have remained closed because they do not have enough employees. This he said opens an opportunity for Negrenses to explore.

Part of the governor’s visit last week in Darwin was to check on Negrense scholars studying and working there.

Diaz is optimistic that with the help of Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, a direct flight to Darwin or perhaps Manila to Darwin, could be established with a Philippine-based airline companies servicing the said route.
