Cadiz confirms local transmission of COVID-19

Mayor Salvador Escalante made an appeal through the city’s FB page for residents to observe minimum health standard.

Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr confirms today that 85% of active COVID-19 cases in his locality is due to local transmission.

In his video message posted on Facebook, the mayor said that of the 37 active cases, 32 were acquired through local transmission. It reportedly originated from one worker in the city hall, who infected 5 more, and the 5 infected 12 others.

A fervent appeal to all Cadiznons from our City Mayor Salvador G. Escalante, Jr. to STRICTLY OBSERVE all health protocols in order to avoid the continuous spread of the local transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

With the increasing number of local transmission, the local government unit reminds its residents to enforce strict health protocols, including regular hand washing, wearing of faceshield and face mask.

Yesterday, the mayor also issued a directive instructing government employees exhibiting COVID-like symptoms to refrain from further reporting to work and instead immediately seek medical care.
