The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) cautioned the general public from buying the new P20 coin and the enhanced 5-Piso coin higher than its respective face value through online sellers.
The central bank said that the 20-Piso New Generation Currency (NGC) coins and the enhanced 5-Piso coins which have been in circulation since December 2019 serves as a legal tender and can be used for payment of goods and services at its face value.
The BSP has released 290.09 million pieces of 20-Piso NGC coins and 1.90 billion pieces of the enhanced 5-Piso coins as of February 2022.
