The construction of the new Bacolod legislative building, worth P515 million, is set to commence after the celebration of this year’s MassKara Festival.

Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, chair of the committee on finance and appropriation, said that the city has to delay the construction as the area behind the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) is currently being utilized for the festival.

Sayson said that the contractor has already been given a notice to proceed, with the construction of the new building expected to last 18 months.

Legacy, with a joint venture agreement with MKU Construction and Supply, won the bidding for the project.

The project funds will come from the LGU’s 4.4 billion pesos loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines.
