Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez unveiled plans to upgrade the Bacolod Public Plaza and Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) fountain area with spectacular lighting effects and interactive fountains which aimed at enhancing two of the city’s iconic structures for both locals and tourists.

The centerpiece of the redesign plans is a state-of-the-art lighting system that will be created by a Korean-based firm. The system will use image projection and sky lasers to transform the public plaza and fountain area into dazzling displays of light and color.

In addition to the lighting system, the redesign plans also include the installation of four pond fountains and two interactive floor fountains at the public plaza. The iconic black and white flooring and bandstand at the plaza will remain.

The proposed improvements for the BCGC fountain area include a pond to plaza transformation system that will allow the fountain to be drained of water during shows and big events. A color laser projector will also be installed to project images onto the fountain.

Mayor Benitez posted a video of the proposal on his Facebook page to get inputs from Bacolod residents. He said that the proposed improvements will be implemented as soon as resources from the national government are available.

The planned upgrade of the Bacolod Public Plaza and BCGC fountain area is an exciting development for the city. It is a testament to Mayor Benitez’s commitment to improving Bacolod’s infrastructure and making it more attractive to residents and visitors alike.
