The Department of Health Western Visayas reported today a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in Bacolod.
In a bulletin released today, DOH-WV recorded a total of 25 fresh cases, bringing the number of active cases to 81. Based on its breakdown, out of 25, 17 were local cases, 7 are Authorized Persons Outside Residents and 1 returning resident.
This is so far the highest cases that Bacolod has recorded since the start of this month. According to City Administrator Em Ang since February this year the city recorded an average of only 2 cases per day.
But despite of the sudden spike in local cases Ang said that no clustering of new cases were documented.
Ang reminded the public to keep their masks on, maintain social distance and practice regular hand washing.
Meanwhile, the province of Negros Occidental has documented 11 new cases from returning residets and 7 new local cases.
