Bacolod City, Negros Occidental— The tandem of mayoral bet Albee Benitez and former councilor Atty. Caesar Distrito is now official after they filed their Certificate of Candidacy at the Bacolod Commission on Election, yesterday, October 5.
Filing the COCs on behalf of their team was lawyer Andrei Saril to avoid crowding at the COMELEC office amid the COVID-19 pandemic. But their team gathered at the billionaire’s house in Brgy. Mandalagan to hear a mass and for a press conference which was streamed live of the official Facebook account of Benitez.
Included in the slate of Benitez and Distrito, were former member of Grupo Porgreso after switching their support to the former congressman.
This include incumbents Al Victor Espino, Bart Orola and the mother of Caesar, Simple.
Also under the ticket of Asenso for Better Bacolod of Benitez are former vice mayor Thaddy Sayson, former councilors Homer Bais, Celia Flor, Kalaw Puentevella and Sonia Verdeflor, former three-term Negros Occidental board member Patrick Lacson, businessman Vladimir Gonzales, SK chairman Jason Villarosa and daughter of the late councilor Elmer Sy, Pao.
Benitez did not field a congressional candidate to support the candidacy of incumbent lone district congressman Greg Gasataya whom he considered as his long time friend. “Wherever he is, Cong Greg will have my vote,” he said.
