San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo called for full cooperation from Barangay Guadalupe officials and frontline workers during a meeting as COVID-19 positives cases surges in said area.
Gustilo said as the local government oversees all the barangays, it needs the help of the Barangay Guadalupe officials in the fight against the virus, implementation of minimum health protocol and containment of local transmission.
He added that it is the obligation of an elected official to serve especially during this pandemic for the welfare of the people.
Gustilo also cited the inappropriate conducts of swabbed
individuals who have not yet completed their home quarantine but already went out of their homes including those who removed the tarpaulin placed on their houses.
He advised Barangay Guadalupe officials to file a case against them.
Dr. Jessa Tiapon, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Vaccine Cluster Vice Deputy Chair also reminded them to always observe the minimum health protocol or the local government might possibly lock down parts of said area if quarantined individuals continue to violate government orders.
Mayor Gustilo along with City Administrator, Atty. Estefanio Libutan Jr., and members of the EOC and barangay officials also visited the house of a positive patient still at said barangay who refused to be transported to the isolation facility but voluntarily gave in after the mayor assured him that a barangay tanod will be assigned to look after his house and domesticated animals.
Out of the 140 active positive cases in the city, Barangay Guadalupe has 29 all locally transmitted putting it on top of the list surpassing Barangay One.
