Combined active COVID cases in Bacolod, NegOcc back at 1K

The Department of Health in Western Visayas confirmed that cases in both Bacolod and the province of Negros Occidental continue to rise with active cases in Bacolod now at 351 and 705 in the province.

In Bacolod alone, DoH confirmed 50 new local cases yesterday and 86 in Negros Occidental.

In a statement Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the city is now back in the danger zone and reminded barangay heads to proactively do their share in curbing the spread of the virus.

He said the barangays remain to be the “main battleground” as the city courses its way through the sudden spike of COVID-19 cases over the last two weeks.

Leonardia who also held a virtual meeting with the transportation sector reminded the group to regulate public transportation and implement stricter minimum health protocols citing the safety of the riding public.

Meanwhile, the city of Cadiz has placed 150 households in Purok Mainuswagon (Barbas 2), Barangay Zone 2 under lockdown for 7 days to contain the spread of COVID-19. Another 700 houses in Barangay Bug-ang in Toboso town is also on lockdown after an official from the Department of Education and 7 members of her family tested positive of the virus.

Gov. Eugenio Lacson has also recommended placing Barangay Guadalupe proper in San Carlos under lockdown due to surge in COVID-19 cases.
