As part of its modern urban management, Victorias City officially switched on its first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered traffic lights on Thursday, June 26.
This cutting-edge system, complete with integrated cameras, is strategically located at Crossing Central, along Osmeña Avenue and BS Aquino Drive, and promises to revolutionize traffic flow and enhance road safety for residents and commuters.

Benitez underscored the timely necessity of the new traffic light system stressing that it was high time to install traffic lights in Victorias to help reduce congestion and keep roads safer and more peaceful for all.
The project he said is part of theccity’s proactive approach to addressing growing traffic demands. The AI capabilities are expected to optimize signal timings in real-time, adapting to traffic volume and conditions for more efficient movement.
The inauguration was part of a triple-project unveiled by Victorias City Mayor and Congressman-elect of the Third District of Negros Occidental Javier Miguel Benitez.
The younger Benitez also inaugurated the relocation of the Victorias Café to the South Wing of the Public Plaza and the upgrade of the Satellite Market in Barangay I, both designed to invigorate community life and local commerce.
Dignitaries present at the inauguration included DPWH NIR Engineer V Nonie Viyar and DPWH Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office Engineer II Engr. Roberto Maghibon Jr., along with Reuben Tampos, representing Land Transportation Office – Region VI Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II. Their presence signaled the collaborative effort across government agencies in bringing this advanced infrastructure to Victorias City.
