In celebration of Women’s Month and a prelude to the upcoming Panaad sa Negros Festival, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Negros Occidental, in collaboration with the provincial government, hosted a Voter’s Education and Automated Counting Machine (ACM) demonstration for the Lin-ay sang Negros 2025 candidates.

Held at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol Building on Saturday, March 8, the interactive session aimed to empower the candidates with crucial electoral knowledge, reinforcing their role as advocates for social responsibility.

The event, which also served as a part of COMELEC’s 85th Anniversary celebration, provided the candidates with a comprehensive overview of the voting process. Election Officer and NIR Regional Election Lawyer Claudine Joyce L. Ballesteros led the demonstration, providing a hands-on experience with the ACM, allowing the candidates to understand the technology behind automated voting.

“The candidates were highly engaged throughout the session and are now equipped to conduct voter education within their respective communities,” stated a COMELEC representative. “This initiative not only provided them with the necessary tools and knowledge but also underscored the importance of active participation in the electoral process.”

COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee M. Ananoria emphasized the importance of this initiative, highlighting its significance in preparing the candidates for their roles as community leaders.
