Local authorities in Bago City have dismissed social media rumors claiming that a plane had crashed or made an emergency landing in the area.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) issued a statement late Thursday evening, September 26, stating that there had been no reported incidents of this nature.
Ryan Valero, of the CDRRMO’s Operation and Warning, told The Citybridge that they had immediately coordinated with relevant agencies, including the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Philippine Air Force, to investigate the claims circulating online.
While some residents reported hearing a low-flying aircraft in certain barangays, Valero emphasized that there was no evidence to substantiate these claims. “There’s no proof or evidence yet,” he said, adding that “there’s no emergency or crash landing by an aircraft in the city.”
The CDRRMO urged the public to be cautious about sharing unverified information online and to rely on official sources for accurate updates.
