The Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF) has secured a $500,000 grant from Citi Foundation, administered through CAF America, to support their “Balik Panguma Initiative.”
In a press statement, NWTF said this innovative project aims to enhance food security and nutrition for Filipino farmers in Dungganon, Negros Occidental.
For nearly a decade, NWTF has empowered farmers through their Micro-Agri project and Community Loans. The Balik Panguma Initiative builds upon this success, focusing on sustainable agriculture, responsible entrepreneurship, and livelihood opportunities. By equipping farmers with efficient practices and knowledge, NWTF aims to increase their income and build a brighter future for themselves, their families, and the community.
Citi Philippines CEO Paul Favila applauded the initiative, stating: “Through knowledge and skills sharing, these farmers can grow more sustainable businesses and make a positive impact on their communities. Initiatives like the Global Innovation Challenge are crucial for progress. We hope to support more impactful causes like this in the future.”
