DHO Region 7 Chief Pathologist, Dr. Jean Loreche, turned over 20 bags of convalescent plasma donated to Bacolod City, recently.

According to City Administrator Em Ang, this is the 3rd batch of plasma donated by DOH Region 7 to Bacolod.

The Bacolod Adventist Medical Center and Riverside Medical Center serve as repository of the said convelescent plasma.

Convalescent plasma therapy uses blood from people who have recovered from COVID-19 to help other patients with moderate to severe symptoms boost their ability to fight the virus.

Blood donated by people who have recovered from COVID-19 has antibodies to the virus that causes it. The donated blood is processed to remove blood cells, leaving behind liquid (plasma) and antibodies.
