The stepfather of a 15-year-old girl who was found dead in a sugarcane field in La Carlota City has admitted to molesting her but denies any involvement in her murder.

Rene John Nacis, alias Negro, the live-in partner of Pearl Joy Galve’s mother, appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday, August 30 where he admitted to have molested Pearl Joy when she was 12, NBI chief Manuel Fayre Jr., revealed.

Nacis admitted to the abuse but vehemently denied involvement in her killing, the NBI chief said.

Nacis, who sought refuge with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) earlier this month, continues to maintain his innocence and denies threatening Pearl Joy’s mother.

While the NBI is releasing Nacis from custody, they plan to file child abuse charges against him next week.

Pearl Joy, a student of Sum-ag National High School, disappeared on July 29 and was found dead on August 14. An autopsy revealed signs of beating and possible strangulation.
