Some netizens have expressed concern regarding the safety standards employed by a local contractor after six workers were injured by electrocution while installing a post for solar lights along the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway in Brgy. Sum-ag on Saturday, February 8.

Police reports said that the workers were using a backhoe to erect a steel post on the road’s center island when the equipment accidentally touched a live wire. Fortunately, none of the victims sustained major injuries.
Netizens questioned the safety standards, noting the workers’ apparent lack of safety gear. Some also pointed out that construction workers, rather than qualified electricians, were performing the electrical installation.
