A devastating fire hit Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2 in Bacolod City early morning of July 31 leaving an estimated 80 families homeless.
The blaze broke out around 3:00 AM and took firefighters until 5:00 AM to fully contain. The Bureau of Fire Protection is currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
The close proximity of houses in the area contributed to the rapid spread of the fire, leaving residents with little time to salvage their belongings. Many were forced to prioritize the safety of their families over material possessions.
The local government is currently working to provide temporary shelter and assistance to the affected families, with the Barangay Hall and church currently served as evacuation sites.
