A massive fire that broke out in warehouse in Purok Villa Lucasan in Brgy. Mandalagan, a quarter before three in the afternoon, yesterday, January 12, left P5.2 million in damages.

Black smoke as scene along Circumferencial Rd.

The fire hit the warehouse owned by Carvi Upholstery that houses supplies of foam and tarpaulins according to an initial probe of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Due to the volume of combustible material stored at the warehouse, it took firefighters more than 2 hours battling the blaze before it declared a fire out. Over a dozen of firetrucks cordoned off the area to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.

At the height of the fire plumes of thick black smoke could be seen from the Bacolod City Government Center that is roughly 4 kilometers from the fire scene.

The BFP did not report any casualties, but a vehicle and a truck parked just outside the warehouse were also gutted by fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
