The City of Bacolod has started the rehabilitation work on the 3 major public markets with a budget of P150 million from the national government, through the Department of Budget and Management.

About P50 million was earmarked each for Burgos Market, Central Market and Libertad Market, according to Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

This is by far, Leonardia said, the biggest single Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) the city has ever received and made possible together with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and the City Council.

“I requested the Department of Budget & Management for assistance with the rehabilitation of the city’s three major markets in 2020 yet,” the mayor said.

Over the weekend, Leonardia made the rounds of the Burgos Public Market to check on the progress of the project.

Leonardia was accompanied by Assistant City Engineer Loben Rafael Ceballos during the weekend inspection together with key CEO personnel involved in the project planning.
