The 45th MassKara Festival not only showcased the vibrant culture and spirit of Bacolod City but also promoted environmental sustainability.

The city government, in partnership with Coca-Cola Philippines, Bacolod Yuhum Foundation Inc., and Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies Inc. (BEST), successfully collected a total of 8,097.29 kilograms of PET plastic bottles from October 11-27. This equates to approximately 445,455 individual bottles.

The initiative, a first for the MassKara Festival, aimed to raise awareness about proper waste disposal and encourage recycling. The collected PET bottles will be recycled and repurposed, reducing plastic waste and minimizing its impact on the environment.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez expressed his gratitude to the partners involved in the project and emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship. He believes that by promoting sustainable practices, Bacolod City can continue to be a vibrant and environmentally friendly city.
