Residents of Bacolod City and surrounding areas in Negros Occidental faced intermittent power outages on the second day of 2024, leaving many frustrated.

In an advisory, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) said it has recorded voltage fluctuations across their entire coverage area, affecting the cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and the towns of Murcia & Don Salvador Benedicto.

The outages started at 2:20 PM and again at 2:26 PM, leaving homes and businesses without power for brief periods.

CENECO assured the public that their technical team is working closely with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to identify the cause of the voltage fluctuations.

Meanwhile, the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative also reported a grid disturbance, affecting its 69kv transmission line serving 5 substations (Sagay, Lopez, Cadiz, Manapla, Victorias substations).

Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative has also confirmed that their coverage area is affected by the grid disturbance.
