The City of Bacolod is not part of the updated list released by the National Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 that was classified under Alert Level 3 status, the Department of Health Region 6 said in an advisory released before noontime today, January 7.
This is in contrast to the update released by the government-run Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital thru its Facebook page where it said that the regional health bureau has escalated the alert level status of the city to one notch higher and placed it under moderate risk classification.
The regional office of the health department clarified on its official Facebook page that only the City of Iloilo was placed under a more stricter Alert Level 3, effective January 9, as approved by the national IATF.
Aside from Iloilo City, the IATF approved on January 6, the recommendation of its sub-Technical Working Group on Data Analytics to escalate the following cities and provinces to Alert Level 3: Baguio City in the Cordillera Administrative Region; Dagupan City in Region 1; City of Santiago and Cagayan in Region 2; Angeles City, Bataan, Olongapo City, Pampanga and Zambales in Region 3; Batangas and Lucena City in Region 4-A; Naga City in Region 5; Iloilo City in Region 6; and Lapu-lapu City in Region 7.
CASE COUNT
The regional hospital said that as of January 6, Bacolod logged a total of 32 fresh cases, raising the active COVID-19 cases in the city to 204.
The city also logged its first “imported” Omicron variant early this week, but the health department stressed that the patient has already fully-recovered.
