Mayor Evelio Leonardia ‘fires warning shot’ anew as COVID cases double in 2 days in the city.
The mayor emphatically reminded Bacolodnons that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and that they should observe minimum health protocols to control the transmission of the deadly virus.
Leonardia issued the warning after a brief made by Executive Director Em Legaspi-Ang of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force, that contact-tracing cluster head Dr. Rosalie Deocampo told EOC-TF members in their daily huddle that cases doubled from 16 to 34 late Wednesday night.
Dr. Deocampo, Ang disclosed, said that those infected have a travel history or had attended holiday gatherings.
On Monday, Leonardia and the EOC-TF members discussed in an emergency Zoom meeting the uptick of COVID cases in the National Capital Region and adjacent provinces after the holiday celebrations. Health authorities also suspect that the increase in daily spread may already be due to the Omicron variant.
