The local government of San Carlos thru the City Health Office (CHO) began its pediatric vaccination against COVID-19 for minors aged 12 to 17 on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 at the City Auditorium.
Merlie Franco, Nurse II of CHO and Emergency Operations Center Vaccine Cluster (EOC VC) Cold Chain and Logistics Team Leader said 100 vials or 600 shots of Pfizer vaccine were allotted to minors and people with comorbidity (vaccination was done at the City Hospital) for said vaccination.
Franco reminded residents that even if they preferred a particular brand, all vaccines are effective. She urged them to grab whatever available vaccine allotted by the government for their own welfare; also encouraged those who are still hesitant to get their shots so that the community can achieve herd immunity.
A total of 20 vials of Astrazeneca, 10 vials of Moderna and more than two thousand shots of Sinovac vaccine were also provided for adults including senior citizens with no comorbidity during said schedule at the City Auditorium.
An organized system was also implemented during said vaccination to assure the observance of minimum health standards while tanods were deployed to assist every individual at the entrance and within the site.
Erwin Reyes, Special Operations Officer II of Parks and Plaza said a maximum of 300 individuals composed of 150 adults and 150 minors with parents were allowed to get inside the site first so that social distancing will be implemented wherein an interval of only 20 persons per group were permitted to enter the auditorium after an hour to achieve a smooth vaccination process.
