The province of Negros Occidental recorded the highest number of COVID-19 new cases from Locally Stranded Individuals and Authorized Persons Outside Residence in the region.
According to latest count released by the Department of Health Western Visayas, a total of 21 LSIs tested positive of the corona disease, and another 14 APORs. This brings the current active cases in the province to 291.
As this developed, officials in Western Visayas agreed in a Zoom meeting that all persons traveling to the region, including APOR are required to present a negative COVID-19 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results taken 72 hours before their trip. Previously, APOR are exempted from swab testing.
Meanwhile, the city of Bacolod logged 5 new cases yesterday, according to DOH, bringing the total active cases to 92.
In a video statement Mayor Evelio Leonardia has once again reminded the general public not to be complacent especially that there are case surges in Metro Manila, Cebu, and other areas.
“Let me take this opportunity to appeal to always be careful and follow health protocols. Use your mask, face shield, and practice social distancing. We keep on repeating this, but that is the reality we have to face now,” he stressed.
He also discouraged Bacolodnons in participating in any forms of mass gatherings and social mixing as part of the safety precautions.
