The local government of San Carlos City thru the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) received a plaque of recognition as one of the participants in the World Wide Fund for Nature – One Planet City Challenge (WWF- OPCC) yesterday morning, December 9.
The virtual awarding ceremony held thru ZOOM was attended by the representatives of CEMO headed by Engr. Arthur Batomalaque, Solid Waste Management/Pollution Control Division Head along with Atty. Estefanio Libutan Jr., City Administrator.The OPCC recognizes cities initiatives and commitments intended to accelerate the shift towards a climate resilient economy and a low-carbon future.
Engr. Batomalaque said there is a need for the city to establish policies and ordinances regarding programs that promote renewable energy in every household and consider the creation of bike lanes on city streets.
Atty. Libutan thanked the WWF for looking upon and noticing the efforts of the city. He said that the recognition will serve as an inspiration for the local government unit to exert more effort to reach its goals.
San Carlos City together with the cities of Makati and Pasig previously represented the Philippines in 2018 in the same challenge.
