For the first time, the 5-day conference of the Philippines’ Startup Weekend officially kicked off virtually, last November 23.

The ceremonial opening of the event was led by the Departments of Information Communications Technology, Trade and Industry, Science and Technology, together with QBO Innovation.

DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II, together with DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela T. Peña and DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez virtually welcomed the participants in the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Honasan said: “Please use this opportunity to better understand how your company could benefit from available support from both the government and the private sector. Use this opportunity to network with like-minded people, innovative, daring, willing and able to make a change in the country and in the world.”

Secretary Honasan is encouraging young innovators and Philippine startups to join in the PHSW 2020.

On the first day program, dubbed as the InnovNation, Assistant Secretary Emmanuel Caintic presented the DICT’s Digital Startup Program. The activity also featured discussions on startups and startup community builders in the countryside.

The PHSW 2020 will run from November 23 to 27, 2020.  Don’t miss out on the biggest 5-day virtual startup event of the year! Explore the virtual conference now via https://bit.ly/joinphsw20.
