Malacañang has officially revoked its previous order that compels Filipinos the use a faceshield as part of COVID-19 health protocol in areas classified under Alert Level 1-3. But in Bacolod City, the use of faceshield will remain in effect.
This is until a new executive order will be issued by Mayor Evelio Leonardia or until the existing ordinance requiring the use of faceshield will be amended.
Under City Ordinance 944, it states that in addition to mandatory use of face mask, face shield shall be used while inside supermarkets, public markets, malls, venues for meetings (private or government service initiated); venues where private or government services are provided: all enclosed Offices or establishments doing business; public transportation or public utility vehicles and enclosed work places.
Malacañang issued an update protocol on the use of faceshield yesterday, the same day that Bacolod was downgraded to Alert level 2, where minors are now officially allowed entry to malls, parks, and other establishments. Cinemas are re-opening too along with venues for social gatherings.
But in areas under Alert level 5 and granular lockdowns, the use of face shields in community settings shall be mandatory, the EO said.
For areas under Alert Level 4, local government units (LGs) and private establishments are given the discretion to mandate the use of face shields, it added.
