The Bacolod City government through the Bacolod City College is launching a comprehensive training program designed to equip residents with the skills necessary to enter the thriving Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez announced.

The program which is a collaboration between the Bacolod City government, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Ubiquity, will be hosted at BCC.

Operating under the @SENSO Life Skills Academy banner, it aims to provide targeted skills training tailored to the BPO sector, particularly for identified “near hires.”

Benitez said that the local government will serve as the program hub, with TESDA overseeing the training curriculum and Ubiquity providing industry insights and direct hiring opportunities. He emphasized that this initiative will streamline the hiring process for BPO companies.

Under the arrangement, Ubiquity will handle the selection and assessment of candidates for the program, while TESDA and the LGU will confirm the scholarship for identified candidates. Upon program completion, Ubiquity will re-evaluate graduates and offer employment to those who pass.

Ubiquity currently operates two sites in Bacolod- one at the Negros First Cybercentre and another at Ayala Capitol Centrale, employing over 2,000 agents.

According to the mayor, these TESDA-funded short courses, conducted at BCC, are open to participation from other companies seeking to expand their workforce.

Bacolod City has been a major hub for multi-national BPO companies for nearly 20 years, and providing over 30,000 jobs, according to data from the Bacolod-Negros Federation for ICT.
