A tornado swept through Murcia town shortly after 2 PM today, March 6, resulting in a power disruption in the area.
The strong winds associated with the tornado led to power outages along the Bacolod-Alijis 69 kV sub-transmission line, affecting electricity supply to the Alijis and Murcia substations and their respective feeders.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas experienced sudden power interruptions as the extreme weather phenomenon passed through. While there have been no reports of major structural damage to Negros Power’s facilities, initial assessments indicate that fallen tree branches and debris have become entangled in power lines, requiring immediate clearing and repair operations.
Negros Power has deployed its technical teams to conduct thorough inspections, remove obstructions, and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Engr. Mervin Dalian, Assistant Vice President of the Network Development and Operations Group at Negros Power, stated that initial assessments showed no major damage, but that they needed to clear the lines where debris and trees had fallen.
Negros Power urged the public to remain cautious and report any downed power lines or electrical hazards in their areas. The company also advised affected residents to stay updated through official announcements as restoration efforts continued.
Negros Power announced the following restoration times for the Bacolod-Alijis 69KV Line Feeders:
- AF1 – 3:06 PM
