As part of its climate action program, Teleperformance through its Citizen of the Planet (COTP), reported a saving of 2,004.04 kilowatt hours (kWH) – enough to power ten homes for an entire month as a result of its participation in Earth Hour 2023.
The company switched off all of the lights in its 23 offices across the Philippines for one hour last March 25.
Teleperformance has consistently made strides in curbing its energy consumption, transforming the annual Earth Hour activity into a monthly event. In 2022 alone, the company managed to conserve 25,565.43 kWh of electricity, equivalent to the monthly consumption of 127 homes.
Moreover, Teleperformance Philippines has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. To achieve this, the company is implementing energy-efficient measures in its operations and actively switching to renewables.
In October 2022, Teleperformance inked a landmark partnership with AboitizPower, a leading renewable energy provider in the Philippines, to power their Bacolod and Sucat sites. With this, Teleperformance became one of the first Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies in the country to switch to renewable energy.
Teleperformance’s advocacy for enabling a greener, safer, and cleaner Philippines extends beyond the walls of their offices.
The company also launched a global campaign to raise money in support of reforestation efforts in the Philippines and elsewhere by teaming up with the non-profit organization One Tree Planted. Tree-planting initiatives in deforested areas benefited greatly from the generous donations Teleperformance mobilized.
Teleperformance’s Chief Executive Officer, Francisco ‘Sisco’ Lara, expressed gratitude towards all employees and partners who have contributed their part to the planet. “Teleperformance marches on with the planet in mind as we continue our efforts in sustainability for the next coming years,” he added.
